Description: Jorge Luis Borges and Ramón Gómez de la Serna met in Madrid in 1921, when both were participating in the avant garde journal Ultra. Gómez de la Serna became an influential figure in the intense literary scene of Buenos Aires. When the Spanish Civil War started, in 1936, Gómez de la Serna emigrated to Argentina, sharing with Borges a city in transformation, where topics of identity and tradition were at the core of transversal discussions. This exhibit highlights Borges & de la Serna collections in Pitt's Archives & Special Collections.
