Southeast Asia is divided into Mainland Southeast Asia (or Indochina) and Maritime Southeast Asia (or the Malay Archipelago). Most countries in the region have had high economic growth in recent years. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has been instrumental in creating economic cooperation between countries in the region.
