Class Visits to Archives & Special Collections

This guide will provide information to Instructors about what is possible in teaching with Archives & Special Collections and scheduling class visits to the department.

Instruction Spaces

The University of Pittsburgh Library System (ULS) instruction spaces are designed to facilitate multi-faceted, hands-on learning experiences with technology and flexible furniture to allow for a variety of setups depending upon the class or programming needs.  Additionally, the spaces accommodate the experience of handling rare materials in conjunction with the more prevalent online experience in a safe and secure environment.

ULS spaces must be reserved and mediated by library personnel.  The use of these spaces must incorporate A&SC physical or digital resources or involve other library-related activity into the class session.  Please contact us for assistance.

These spaces are not available for ongoing classroom, recitation, or general meeting purposes and are intended to facilitate engagement with primary sources and library services. If you require a teaching or meeting space that does not involve the library - please see the Office of the Registrar for assistance in classroom or event space scheduling.
