Class Visits to Archives & Special Collections

This guide will provide information to Instructors about what is possible in teaching with Archives & Special Collections and scheduling class visits to the department.

In-Person or Virtual Class Visits

As librarians and archivists who work with rare and unique collections, we have an opportunity to provide access (in-person and virtually) to and help contextualize a range of material experiences to students and researchers. We can deepen and extend classroom and research experiences by facilitating the explorations of images, texts, objects, sound, and electronic records in all their material forms.

We look forward to the opportunity to support efforts to

  • Provide students with the opportunity to construct a narrative from primary sources, helping them move beyond being consumers of narratives; and
  • Show students how to formulate a question, often based on an image or object, and then pursue that question with original research and searching secondary sources.

Please contact us to set up an appointment to discuss scheduling in-person or virtual visits!

Please contact us at least two weeks prior to the proposed class session.
