Introduction to PittCat

What is PittCat? A search platform that searches our catalog (books, ebooks, journals, etc.) and many of our databases (articles, ebooks, data, etc.). PittCat will find all three types of literature: scholarly, trade/professional, and popular.

How do you get to PittCat?  It is the main search bar on the library homepage.

Advantages:

  • Can search multiple platforms at once
  • Easy to use interface
  • Multiple filtering options
  • Works best for finding articles and books/ebooks

Drawbacks:

  • Isn't focused on one discipline or subject area
  • Not many advanced search options
  • Not good for data or industry and company profiles

Result Options: See below for the tools available on each PittCat search result.
