They partner in Nicaragua with a worker owned organic coffee cooperative, operate two supplemental schools for at-risk youth, and provide high school scholarships for students in need. In Pittsburgh, they engage with local schools and universities, faith groups, farmers, non-profits, community groups, and businesses to promote healthy ecosystems and to spread awareness about how fair-trade relationships can help to reduce poverty and inequalities. Pittsburgh’s Best Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken

A group of young Mexicans, who worked in different restaurants, decided to join forces and open a single Mexican restaurant that offered a cozy, home-like atmosphere at affordable prices. They wanted the place to remind patrons of “el paso”—the passage— into a different meal, full of feeling and flavor.That’s why they named the restaurant El Paso, since it is a bridge (in the City of Bridges) between two cultures (American and Mexican) that have something in common: enjoying a good Margarita and a good Mexican dish.

Chef Fermin Acosta began his culinary career in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Starting from the bottom, he learned the ropes by working with various chefs in the area. After honing his skills in the kitchen it was time for him to make his mark on the culinary scene. He began by creating the menu at TOTOPO, a Mexican restaurant in Mount Lebanon, and has now prepared something completely different, inspired by his Purépechan roots.
