Finding Books in Owen Library

The education books in Owen Library are located in three main areas in the library. When you click on a title in PITTCat+, you will see both a call number and location information for the title. Here is a breakdown of the three areas:

  1. Reference Collection - these books include dictionaries, ecyclopedias, statistics, and more. Consult the list below if you're wondering where to start your research.
  2. General Collection - these books focus on theory and current event topics in the field of Education. Education books are classified under L in the Library of Congress classification scheme and similarly themed books are grouped together. For example, if you find a relevant book with a call number of LB501, browse the collection in that area. Chances are, you will find another book that will be equally helpful.
  3. Curriculum Room - the materials in the Curriculum collection are available to assist you in student teaching. In addition to a growing collection of children's and young adult books, there are school textbooks, curriculum kits, games, and videos.
