A zine, short for fanzine or magazine, is a DIY* subculture self-publication...zine creators are often motivated by a desire to share knowledge or experience with people in marginalized or otherwise less-empowered communities.
—Barnard Zine Library: Zine Basics
Along with our robust collection of artists' books, we also house a zine (pronounced zeen) library featuring zines from local, regional, and international artists, activists, and collectives. You can learn more about zines, including how to make your own, here.
Our zine collection is shelved in the Frick Fine Arts Library browsing room. Zines are available for exploratory browsing during library open hours, no appointment required.
