RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" and it delivers content to a feed reader as an XML file. You can subscribe to a RSS feed with a feed reader or a news aggregator. 

You'll know a page has an RSS feed if you see this icon. You will often see these icons in the URL bar in a web browser or at the bottom of a web page. They'll also show up in databases and publisher web sites.
