Stark Media Services is pleased to present a summer-themed display centered around 2 concepts - nostalgic summer days and surrealist dreamscapes.
Remember the summer days of childhood?
This transitional period that seemed to last forever and yet go by too fast. Movies have tried to capture this special time of little responsibility and lots of freedom. They’re steeped in nostalgia and childhood bliss. Explore these titles related to coming-of-age summer movies.
Dreams are a popular theme to explore in movies. Dreamscapes allow us to stretch reality and explore complex themes - time, identity, and truth. Explore these surrealist movies that will leave you questioning.
These two themes are merged in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
This is an interlacing tale of 5 storylines - full of love, tricks, fairies, and frolicking in the woods. As the humans are tied up in the fairy's magic - reality and fiction began to mix.
You can explore the films and filmmakers spotlighted below, where you will find lists of the films and books that were featured on the display along with links to their PittCat pages where you can request them, learn more about their credits, and more!
This display was created in collaboration with contributing display curator Diael Thomas, ULS Diversity Librarian Fellow.
