This guide was created to help newly-arrived Chinese students get familiar with the University Library System's (ULS) resources and services.

What to do if you cannot check out books

So, now you have your University of Pittsburgh computing account and your student ID card ready. You want to check out books from the libraries, but you are blocked by the system from doing so. You may wondering what the matter is. Do not worry. Most likely it is just because your mailing address is still your home address in China. To solve this issue, you may simply following the directions below to change your mailing address. You may also go to the library service desk and our friendly staff will be happy to help you resolve the issue.

如果你的匹大电子邮件信箱和你的匹大学生ID卡都有效，可就是从图书馆借不了书，该怎么办呢？请不必担心，很有可能只是因为你在系统里的家庭地址仍然是中国的地址。您只需按照下面的步骤把地址该为在美国的地址即可。

Students' Directions to Change MAILING Address

  • Log in to my.pitt.edu
  • Click Student Center at right. A new window should pop-up
  • Click Self Service
  • From the Campus Personal Information menu, select Addresses
  • Click Edit to change your MAILING address
  • Select COUNTRY first, then fill out your address in the United States
