Welcome to the University of Pittsburgh for your academic pursuit! Whether you are an undergraduate or a graduate, you will certainly enjoy the friendly and comfortable setting, rich learning and research resources, and first-class user-centered services that the University Library System (ULS) will provide to you.

As an international student, you may find our libraries to be different than the ones in your home countries. This guide will provide you with information about using the University Library System (ULS) at Pitt, conducting research at a Western university, and writing and avoiding plagiarism in your academic papers.

University Library System (ULS)

The ULS includes 7 libraries in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, as well as 4 libraries at our branch campuses in Bradford, Greensburg, Johnstown, and Titusville. As a Pitt student, you have access to all libraries, so feel free to study in the ones that are most convenient for you. Below you will find a map showing the locations of the libraries on the Pittsburgh campus. In the Fall and Spring semesters, Hillman Library is open for 24 hours a day from Sunday-Friday.
