STEM workers are those employed in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics occupations.
In 2019, there were nearly 10.8 million workers in STEM occupations, according to Census Bureau estimates. Women made up approximately 27% of this group, but men continued to dominate the field at approximately 73%. (Source: Women Are Nearly Half of U.S. Workforce but Only 27% of STEM Workers).
