Emerging Technology in Open Lab

This LibGuide provides information on the equipment and tools available in Open Lab to all members of the Pitt community.

About Open Lab

Open Lab @ Hillman is a collaboration between the University Center for Teaching and Learning and the University Library System. Through workshops, class sessions, consultations, and training, we aim to connect the Pitt community with technology for hands-on making and experiential learning.

How Do I Get Started?

If you are ready to learn how to use a piece of Open Lab equipment and be authorized to reserve it, you will will be asked to:

  • Complete the online 100 and/or 200 level Canvas training modules on Open Lab @ Canvas;
  • If you prefer to learn more on your own you can complete the optional 300 level online level training modules.
  • You may also come in to Open Lab and receive your 300 level trainings in-person.
  • Once you have completed these you can use the LibCal calendar to reserve time to use Open Lab equipment.

Location and Hours

The Open Lab @ Hillman is located in Hillman Library room 132, near the service desk to the right of the main entrance.

Our up-to-date hours can be found on the ULS Library Hours page.
