Tips for using the maps and atlases available in Archives & Special Collections

Description

The Pittsburgh Railways Company Records collection held by Archives & Special Collections contains reports, proceedings, maps, diagrams, appraisals, labor relations material, photographs, ledgers, films and awards which document the activities of  the largest provider of mass transit in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area from its creation in 1902 until its demise in 1964, when it was absorbed into the Port Authority of Allegheny County. The maps in this collection show all or part of the Pittsburgh Railways Company track system, which was primarily located in and around Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. There ia also a table listing the types of  passenger motor and trailer cars used by the company. More detailed information about this collection is available online through our Finding Aid.
