Subject Areas

I am library faculty, specializing in the area of scholarly communication. My interests in this area include open access, open education, copyright and intellectual property, library publishing, altmetrics, peer review, data management, and issues particularly pertaining to the social sciences. 

I have a Ph.D. in Sociolinguistics (2013, University of Pittsburgh) and am involved in the discipline of linguistics, particularly around data management and publishing. I am the Chair of the Committee on Scholarly Communication in Linguistics for the Linguistic Society of America.

September 2018-Present:  “Exploring New Roles for Librarians: Scholarly Communications”

Review the current state and future prospects of scholarly communications librarianship, including the roles, responsibilities, requirements and relationships of this evolving academic library specialty.

June 2018-Present: “Defining Open Access”

Compile definitions of Open Access from publisher, library, and advocacy websites in order to perform a content analysis.
