Google Scholar

Google Scholar provides a general search of scholarly literature across many disciplines and sources. Use discipline-specific databases like PsycInfo and PubMed in conjunction with Google Scholar.  

When you're off campus, log in via EZProxy so that you're able to access more full-text content.

Database Considerations

PsycINFO and Google Scholar can be used together to maximize the quality of your search results.  While using these tools, consider the follow of each:


  • Discipline specific resource and part of the APA
  • PsycINFO Tools, such as the Thesaurus allow you to customize your search results

Google Scholar

  • Ease of use with natural language searching
  • Search across a variety of sites providing results in a wide range of disciplines


  • Discipline specific content
  • Easy to move from keyword searching to identify MeSH terms
