Researching Photographic Processes

Subject Headings

Subject headings are a set of terms or phrases that classify materials.  To perform a subject search using one of the subject headings listed below, follow these steps:

  1. Go to homepage
  2. Click the PittCat Classic tab 
  3. Select Subject Heading from the dropdown menu
  4. Enter "Photogravure" for example 
  5. Click Enter 

Subject Headings (Early Processes):  

  • Photogravure
  • Cyanotypes 
  • Daguerreotype 
  • Photography -- Processing
  • Photography Printing Processes 
  • Photography -- Printing Processes -- Cyanotype 

Subject Headings (20th-21st Century Processes) 

  • Photography and Cinematography 
  • Instant Photography 
  • Photography -- Digital Techniques

If any of the subject headings in PittCat do not contain enough resources to look through for your research, try plugging the subject heading into Worldcat and then requesting materials you find through Interlibrary Loan.
