From Information to Insight: this hands-on course for the Faculty and Staff Development Program (FSDP) from Human Resources will introduce users to our library system's resources and services.

1. The Library has Coffee...

The Cup and Chaucer Cafe in Hillman Library has a full service espresso bar plus sandwichess, pastries and snacks. The cafe also includes the Alldred Collection of bestsellers and other high-interest books available for checkout.

2. ... and Workshops!

Throughout the year, a wide range of workshops are provided at the library. These workshops include citation management, digital scholarship, and GIS.

If you are interested in attending a workshop, please review the full class description and register using the Workshop Calendar.Tours of Hillman Library are available by appointment.

3. You Have Access to Citation Managers

Online citation managers are an easy way to keep track of all of your references. The University Library System resources work with tools such as Mendeley and EndNote. These are tools for importing citations from sources like PITTCat+ and article databases that can automatically integrate them into your research paper and bibliography.

4. Liaison Librarians Want to Talk to Your Classes

Our liaison librarians can design and conduct a custom instruction session for your class.  We can cover research skills and resources for a particular assignment, talk about plagiarism and citing sources, go over the importance of evaluating information sources, and much more.

5. The ULS Can Publish Your Papers and Host Your Journals

The ULS hosts papers at the D-Scholarship Institutional Repository.  This initiative is designed to provide stable, long-term storage and ongoing maintenance for content contained within the repository.

The ULS D-Scribe Digital Publishing program currently publishes over 15 journals, with a slew of new titles in the works. D-scribe is always seeking new publishing partners, so check out their website for information about collaborating.
