This guide is designed to assist students in conducting research on the Portuguese Empire, beginning roughly in 1415 and continuing through the 20th century independence wars in Portugal's African colonies of Angola and Mozambique. Any primary sources mentioned are translated into English.  When licensed resources are available online, such as ebooks or journal articles, the links will allow current Pitt students, faculty, and staff to access the subscription-only content from on or off campus.
