Katz Orientation Workshop: Home

This guide will be used during the 2017 Katz Library Orientation sessions.

Overview

This guide will walk you through the case activity we will use today to get you familiar with some business resources available at Pitt. The librarian will guide you through each step and answer any questions that you have.

Case Overview

Your friend is thinking about opening a coffee shop in Oakland, Pittsburgh.

They want to target young professionals (i.e. those 21-29 who are in entry level professional jobs).

The coffee shop would sell fair trade and organic specialty coffee beverages, including espresso and specialty baked goods and snacks.

Would you recommend opening this type of coffee shop in Oakland as a good business decision?

Create Research Questions

Brainstorm some questions you'd like to answer in order to make a recommendation about the coffee shop.
