This guide helps students in the Freshman Engineering program at the Oakland Campus with their library and writing assignments.


This guide is meant to help with your library research and writing assignments for the Freshman Engineering Program. The guide presents you with general tips for finding appropriate resources and conducting your library research, along with guidance for the library research required for each of the writing assingments for the class.

Finding the Library

This map shows the locations of the Bevier Engineering Library, Falk Health Sciences Library, Chemistry Library, and the Langley Library (Biology and Chemistry). Come on in! We have room to study and we are happy to help you with your research questions.

The Bevier Engineering Library is located on the ground floor of Benedum Hall. We're right next to the Einstein Bagel shop.

Chemistry Library is located on the first floor of Chevron Science Center, just around the corner from the Bunsen Brewer coffee shop.

Falk Library is located in 200 Scaife Hall.

Langley Library is located on the first floor of Langley Hall.

Access to full-text library resources from off-campus is easy! 

Search as you normally do, click on the link to full-text, log in with your Pitt email login and password, and you're good to go for your entire searching session! Access will work best if you stay in the same browser.
