Children's Literature Collections at Other Campuses

Children's Literature at the ULS

This research guide is intended to identify valuable resources for the study of children and their literature. In addition to the books themselves, you'll see other useful items listed. Among the materials that may be helpful to your research are journals and journal articles, books and book reviews, and information on the authors and illustrators of significant works for children.

The ULS (University Library System) offers many great resources from the 17th century to the present!  In addition to children's books available from a variety of locations, the library has subject specific databases, encyclopedias, and scholarly and peer reviewed journals.  Each item listed on this guide includes a link to details on location, format, and  availability.  Additionally, any link to an online resource connects you to easily whether you're on or off campus.

This guide also contains links to expert assistance from ULS librarians--contact us whenever you have questions on library resources and services.

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh

Although the ULS has many titles for children--fiction and non-fiction, picture book, graphic novel, chapter length, and more--with mutliple students looking for the same title, there may be times when you'll want to utilize the public library.  For many of you, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP), Main Library, located in Oakland, will be the closest location.

Search the holdings for all CLP libraries and other public libraries in Allegheny County through their online catalog.  You'll have access to materials from participating EINetwork libraries.  The item you need might be available at the Main Library of CLP--just across the park from Hillman Library--or you can request something from a participating library.

If your home address when you're not in school is within Allegheny County, your public library card should be valid at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.  If not, here's what to present to Get a Library Card. Click the link Information for University Students.
